Hard to pull one over on you all...
As usual, you are correct....Serial numbers 00019 and 00021 FWIW...

I'm pretty sure these do say 816VI under that white paint. Kinda strange, it's almost like someone was purposefully trying to obscure the model numbers....
EDIT: I can't find any real info on the 515-16G HP. Is this an unusual driver?
Re: auction alert North Carolina
Oh, you don't want those...... those are the yucky 16ohm versions. :D
Re: auction alert North Carolina
Oh I dunno....I'm starting to wonder how 2 of them might sound in this empty JBL 4508 cabinet I have laying around.....
Re: auction alert North Carolina
Todd has a 4 page 515G brochure on Unofficial. It has info on the HP version, including some curves in boxes...

That's the same info as on the Altec pro site, and unfortunately, the 16G HP is MIA....:(
How close do you think it is to the 8G HP?
Re: auction alert North Carolina
Dunno- I would go the security oriented route and measure 'em....
Re: auction alert North Carolina
515-8G-HP 8 ohm version
515-16G-HP 16 ohm version
HP is high power version of standard 515-G

I think he was looking for stuff like T/S parameters, etc.
Re: auction alert North Carolina
Heh, far be it for me to discourage anyone trying to help. What I really want to know is how do they compare to what I already have, and how low might I be able to drive them in a JBL 4508 cabinet?
In my limited understanding, I believe you can drive them to lower frequencies by sacrificing some efficiency. Well, that might be a problem with my 515's, but hopefully 515 16G HP's have more than enough leeway w.r.t power handling that I can get good low freq. response and reasonable SPL's out of them.
According to the 515 specs, the listed freq response is prolly no less than 50 Hz, depending upon whether they spec out closer to the 515 8G HP or the 515 16G. However, in a 210A cab, a pair of 515 16G's looks to be capable of 90 db of 27Hz signal. Also, the maximum excursion of the 8G HP is increased, which may be advantageous. However, I'm starting to get out of my depth, so I will need to defer to the speaker gurus.
